On April 1, our name grew to reflect our firm’s statewide footprint as a leader in comprehensive education law. With offices in five cities across Texas—Austin, Houston, Dallas, Waco, Tyler and Corpus Christi—this growth is a testimony to our hard-earned reputation as counselors and advocates with a passion for public education and unparalleled commitment to client service.
Any given night of the week, you can find our attorneys and experts fanned out across the Lone Star State working face-to-face with the administrators, boards, and public servants who rely on our expertise. At any given hour of the day or night, you may find someone from our firm working to meet the challenges that face our clients, whether routine business or helping them manage a crisis.
Since our firm opened its doors in 1996, we have cultivated a distinctive approach to education law anchored in our shared value of the education profession and the goal of providing effective advocacy with an unparalleled level of personal attention. Woven into the DNA of our firm is a core belief that education is more than a career—it is a calling. The people of Powell, Youngblood, and Taylor share that same sense of purpose. That is why we have dedicated our professional lives to serving those who feel called to shape and guide the rising generation. That calling is our mission.
Much has changed over the last two decades of our firm’s existence. We have expanded from one office to five, serving the legal needs of more than 200 public school districts, community colleges, associations, and public entities. Our clients are as diverse as this great state and range from some of the smallest to the largest schools in the nation. Our firm’s resources and areas of expertise have grown to encompass the entire gambit of legal services to meet our clients’ needs, and even beyond, to include economic development, bond counsel, community and governmental relations, and an array of training options.
We are excited that our firm’s name has grown to include two more distinguished leaders in education law, and that our resources and footprint continue to grow as well. Yet, our original mission remains the same—to provide trusted counsel and exceptional service with a deep-seated respect for educators and their life’s work.
About Powell, Youngblood, & Taylor
Powell, Youngblood, & Taylor is an Austin-based law firm with a statewide practice in all areas of public education law. Established in 1996, our firm’s principal office is located minutes from downtown Austin. The firm’s satellite offices in Houston, Dallas, Tyler and Corpus Christi opened to better serve our clients in northeast and south Texas. We represent school districts, community college districts, and other governmental entities across Texas in the capacity of general and special counsel. Our attorneys are both counselors and advocates, dedicated to an uncompromising commitment to excellence and client service. Our approach to the practice of law involves early consultation and intervention, client training, and timely responses to client concerns.
Our law practice concentrates upon the representation of Texas public educational entities. We serve public education clients in all areas of education law, including employment law, student rights and discipline, purchasing and acquisition, contract negotiation, administrative law, disability law, construction contract drafting and disputes, special education, Chapter 313 value limitation agreements, elections and redistricting, civil rights and constitutional law, and litigation. As general and special legal counsel to school districts, regional service centers and community college districts across the state, we regularly litigate on behalf of our clients in contested bench and jury trials, arbitrations and administrative hearings, and have earned a statewide reputation for effective advocacy on behalf of our clients.
